i have this 80s fashion show thingy at my church and i want to kno how to cut up a sweater or sweatshirt so that it hangs off the shoulder, like in the 80s. i don't kno how to do it. thanx.

I absolutely love that style! I've made several T-Shirts into off-the-shoulder shirts to wear over wife beaters.
I always fold it in half and start cutting about an inch away from the neck of the shirt. Once I've done that I check to make sure the hole is not too large (falling off my shoulders...) and if needed make adjustments.

I don't cut mine off I think (no offense) it is actually quite weird looking and I mean I think all the cotton inside them and how warm they are would make me hot way to fast and you are to wasting you're money because then you are just going to have to buy more in the winter so I mean it makes no sense and where I live short sleeve shirts don't cost 50$ I mean of course there are some that do but I can fine one for as low as 7 dollars but I don't bargain like that LOL so I get ones that cost 15 or 20 dollars but now that I think of it I shop at Forever21 and I went there yesterday and got a really cute tanktop so cute for 7.80 so yeah I think that I would never cut the sleeves off my sweatshirt!! ......People these days........ ~Samantha~

(Only do this with a sweatshirt or tee shirt, a sweater will unravel)Put it on inside out, and stand in front of the mirror with a piece of chalk. Make marks right where your collar bones join your shoulders. Take the shirt off, leaving it inside out. starting at the first mark, make a smile like line across the front of the shirt to the other mark. repeat on the back. Cut along this line. Turn the shirt right side out, and put it on. If it doesn't quite fall right, trim another half inch.

#1 don't do a sweater it will ravel. #2 to do the sweatshirt, put it on and have someone mark where you want it with a light color marker and then cut below the mark. The sweatshirt won't ravel.

Use sewing scissors and cut a sweatshirt up. Simple. I've done before.

If you cut the neck out it will make it go off the shoulder. If you don't cut enough fabric out the neck it won't go off your shoulder, so keep trying it on and recut if you have to.
