well according to your question, you must have a full windows xp version and not the upgrade version. If you have a full version, boot up from your cd rom and follow the instructions when you get to the screen where it asks you where you would like to install windows xp choose the partition where your windows 98 is, actually since you already installed windows xp besides windows 98. I suggest that you first delete both windows versions and then install windows xp. If you only have the upgraded version of windows xp then you would have to format your hd and then install windows 98 and after install the upgrade. it's a long process but hey nobody said it was easy.

one piece of advice back up any files you don't want to erase. 'Cause once you format they will be erased.

good luck

Yes, you want a fresh install if possible because there is going to be lots and lots of junk on there from your old Win98. If your XP is an Upgrade then you will also have to install the W98 CD when it calls for it. Remember to take all your files off there first, before reformatting.

you may want to first save all the files you want from the windows 98..............then do a re-format on your computer.......when you re-format it puts your computer back to the way it was when you first bought it........after you re-format it....then add windows xp.
