A pellet gun, as long as it comes with responsible adult supervison can be a great firearm safety learning tool, so he'll be ready for that .22 or .410 he'll want in a couple years. A fishing rod and tackle is a winner too. Some states offer great discounts on lifetime hunting and fishing licences to minors. Try something that will encourage him to get away from the computer and TV, and get outside.

If he is into Nature or likes bugs. They have some really cool toys for that sort of thing. I made a huge hit with a microscope to view different things. (parent supervision is a must) If he likes to read the whole collection of Harry potter books.

Legos --they have some neat play-sets where you can build ships from pirates of the carribbean or hot dog stands lol. There are so many fun and neat things you can build and the price ranges from $4-100 so you will be able to find something in your price range

Find out if he's into video games. All boys love playing them. See if he has a video game system and what kind. Then get a game that hes interested in

little boys LOVE remote control cars/trucks. It will keep him so busy for hours AND it's so fun to give. His little eyes will light up when he sees it! :)
