Unfortunately, only the bumblequeen hibernates over the winter. The rest of the colony often die.

The queen is uniquely suited to hibernation; she has a patch on her body with no 'hair' (or the insect equivalent of it) that allows her to lie on her eggs and keep them warm during the winter months. She fills up on honey to make it through the winter without eating, then holes up in her underground nest with these eggs. Interestingly, her body will produce a kind of natural 'antifreeze' to keep her from freezing in really cold weather, thus keeping her alive to protect the eggs until warmer weather.

they wear little tiny bumble bee coats and keep working

during the summer they collect pollen for the honeyt
in the winter
they stay in the hive to raise the yong and serve the queen
