send random e mails or im's to people on answers?

I always do! That is how i have met a lot of nice people. And i always send emails to people that are really mean. I let them know that they are @sses and what not.

I have sent messages thanking people for Best Answer or in response to a nice message from someone I don't know. I don't pop up on a stranger's IM, though...I think that's kinda rude.
