Her teeth are healthy and she has a good apitite but her coat is dull. She's very active and shows no signs of being sick. She's just skinny and has a dull coat. She has been this way since I have had her. My male is fat and happy and shiny coat. I feed them regular farret crunchy food and I use "yesterdays news" litter. Any ideas?

A dull coat and weight loss indicates a problem that needs to be seen by a vet. Ferrets are very good at hiding weakess and health problems. By the time a problem is really noticable it has been present for a while and may be irreversable. Get her to a vet ASAP. Adrenal disease is treatable, if that is what it is. If the problem is nutritional or she just has teeth problems, these are treatable. When she poops, is it fairly solid or is it runny? This would be another indicater of health problems, There are just so many things it could be, and, I suspect at this point a change of diet alone will not solve the problem. In the mean time, a quick way to help her gain weight and put shine in her coat, feed her what ferret owners around the world call "duck soup". Here is a link to a good one. It works, I have used it with success.

well if your female is skinny it might be due to digestive disorders or some genetic illness a dull coat indicates a internal disorder take her to the vet give her some natural food which ferrets eat that might or soke a tigers eye crystal in water and feed her the water that might help.

Take her to your vet now. Do not wait. It sounds like adrenal disease. I had a ferret that died from it and know of several that had to have special diets and one that had surgery for it. I hope that I am wrong but it really sounds like adrenal disease. My little ferret was active too. I used to shut all the doors in our house and let her have free roam, she loved it and played with our huskie Sheppard mix dog.......it was heartbreaking to see her get sick so fast. Please take yours to the vet now......good luck//////I really hope I am wrong.

You need to have her tested for adrenal disease, very common in ferrets and causes weight loss and coat thinning.

I would ask a store worker or someone about it. I would ask if you could feed her some fattening foods.
Bon chance et bon courage!
