While Ambien is considered safe, most drugs unless the health of the mother is at risk is at stake should not be taken. Try various stress reduction techniques or mood music. Keeping to a set bed time and maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regime will also help. Also try to avoid any caffeine.

Benadryl is safe occasionally; also Tylenol PM (they both contain the same ingredient. You should not take them every night though and check w/ your doctor.
