well, in MY day, it was 50 below with a 35 mile an hour wind, making the windchill VERY COLD INDEED and i still walked five miles to school barefoot in the snow up hill. they didn't close the schools because of the cold, we were tough and glad of it...and we ate rocks...in MY day we didn't have snow days, we skied to school up hill barefoot in the snow for 5 miles...
but today if it is cold outside, i stay inside with the cat and the fireplace, screw all that being a tough guy crap...i'm too old to be a tough guy...

I'm staying inside. I live in Michigan and last night it got down to 12 below by 3am and right now it is 8 below. Luckily the wind is calm but it's still cold! I was curious how long it would take a human to freeze to death in these tempertures.

Sounds like you're in Chicago.
STAY INDOORS, as those temperatures can cause hypothermia and frostbite.
If you must venture out make sure every part of your body is completly covered (except of course your eyes to see, but use a scarf to keep the wind out) and try to stay out for less then 20 minutes. And remember, frostbite can occur in less than 30 minutes.

well I would plug my block heater in first, insure there was no exposed flesh if I was walking, as it will freeze rapidly in severe temp. I would dress for the weather and go to work. We work outside until -40, then for safety we move inside or go home, just depends on what there is to do.

I would try to stay in doors and watch movies all day. Or just sleep and eat all day. that sounds like a good plan. or maybe I could play games on my pc. Read a good book maybe . So many choices, I can't decide.

Stay indoors with a cup of hot chocolate and a computer. Just like I am now!
