Ive been che3cked out at the docs and hospital and had the all clear from ECG's etc. im worried incase there may still be something wrong, i want o go to gym, start playing football again to get fit but evrytime i do it my pulse races, about 3 beats a second if that makes sense.

So, they've done a complete cardiac workup and couldn't find a cause for your tachycardia (fast heart rate)?

There's a lot of possible explanations. Have you seen a cardiologist? If you haven't, that might be a good idea. They specialize in cardiac issues, and are the best people to go to when a regular doctor can't find out what is wrong.

How's your intake of caffinated beverages? When I was going through paramedic school, I drank a ton of caffinated energy drinks, and my heart started doing some pretty odd things. I got tachycardic, up to 180 bpm, started having chest pains, and started throwing some really odd rhythms. Once I cut out most of the caffeine, that almost completely went away. I've heard that smoking can have a similar effect on your heart. It goes without saying that any drugs (illegal or legal - anything taken to get high) will wreck havoc with your heart, too.

If doctors have completely ruled out any cardiac issues, try to take exercise slowly. It might be completely possible that you are really out of shape, and just need to start slowly. Start off with a gentle walk, and slowly increase the amount of physical activity that you do.

Hope this helps,
Rita
