Pentium D is the dual core version of Pentium 4. Most games today are single threaded, meaning they don't take advantage of more than one processing core, but that is starting to change. If you're going to buy a processor now out of those two, you'd be better off with the PD. But don't get either of those if you can.

Core 2 Duo > Athlon 64 X2 > Pentium D

Compared to more modern processors, Pentium D runs hot and runs up your electric bill by drawing too much power. PD's are also slower at performing computations. GHz isn't everything- architecture matters. Core 2 is the way to go.

I would just get a Core 2 Duo and forget about the Pentium processors.

They are both good pricessors, but the Pentium D i belive it is the first edition of a dual core, so that would be better for gaming and stuff like that. But the Pentium 4 is also pretty fast but it is not for heavy multi-tasking type of thing. so i would go with the Pentium D.

Here's a sheet you might want to check out. It contains the features of all Intel processors.

Anyway, Intel Pentium D is the way to go!

a D is more memory manageable. That's all. Since games tend to take up lots of memory when used, I'd go with a D.
