This -30 degree weather is horrendous, I wonder how these people still have cars here! My car is a eagle talon 1996. I don't want to crack the engine block. How cold does it have to be for oil to freeze? how about 80/90 gear oil and gasoline? What about brake fluid? And any tips on preserving the seals and gaskets ect would help! Can ice damage your rocker arms?

Just make sure you have your Cooling system checked out,,and your battery and charging system.
Use a 60/40 mix of antifreeze and water and you should be fine,,,you can also change your oil to a lighter grade which will be a little easier during the cold months.
Gas line antifreeze can be purchased at any service station,,and added at any time to the fuel tank.
Take your vehicle to any service station and ask them to winterize it,,and most of your problems will be solved.
And minus 30 is not all that difficult for a well maintained vehicle to handle.

Make sure coolant is at a proper mixture for that temperature, make sure your battery is good and healthy and definitely have a block heater installed if it doesn't have one now and plug it in.
You might want to consider a 5W30 full synthetic oil for the winter months as this flows better in cold temps. If the car is otherwise in good tune you will have no problem.

Go to a a dealer, a Canadian Tire shop, a Speedy, a Midas, any of the large tire dealers that have full-service shops, and ask for a winterization special. They will make sure anti-freeze is up to strength, test your battery, alternator, and starter. If your plugs are old, ask them to do a minor tune-up. If your car does not have a block heater, have one put in.

Welcome to Canada!

Take you car to a dealer and have it winterized. Your oil will get thick, but it will not freeze at -30 C. Just let the car warm up for 5 minutes or so. You can also check your owners manual to see what it says about cold starts. As for Gas, the gas in Canada has chemicals in it to deal with our climate. I would be more worried about lock de-icer.
