I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but I honestly don't care what roles Dan Radcliffe pursues outside of being the boy wizard. This is what actors do, they act. Everyone seems to do this, you see an actor in a movie and you fall in love with the character they portray forgetting their identity outside of this role. A good actor should do this. But then you see him in something your not too fond of, and it ruins what you had originally seen him in. Now he's no longer this great character you love him for, he's a common actor, a fraud, you don't know him. I used to do this a lot with actors I like, their personalities built around the roles they have played.
I don't think Dan Radcliffe did a particularly great job at being Harry Potter other than looking alot like JKR's description. I think as he got older his acting improved and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he does in OOTP, and I wish I could see him in this play because I think he would do fantastic on stage. Some of his acting in the movies seems kind of forced.
I also like the books better.

It is not like he is starring in porn. Equus is a legitamit piece of brilliant theater and I commend Dan for taking on such a challenging role. People, child stars HAVE to fight to get away from their original stardom, or they will be DESTROYED by their stardom. Of course this will alter his image as the boy wizard, but who wants to be remembered only as Harry Potter when they are 40?
On an alternate note, I have never thought he had much acting talent, or that Harry Potter was giving him a chance to show off some real skill. If he does well in this, it will do incredible things for his future as an actor, and give him opportunity that being stuck in the Harry Potter mold would have denied him. Those of you who are angry or disgusted by this dont have any respect for Dan Radcliffe as an actor. You are just Harry Potter fangirls who should remember that he is a person with a future career to think of. He wont have Harry Potter to rely on for much longer.
PS: If you want to know how actors can fake sex onstage, go see Spring Awakening. It is brilliant.

It depends on the viewer; some people can separate the actor from the role they play, some can't. A number of actors will intentionally seek out roles very different from those which they are known for, precisely to avoid being 'type cast' as a a certain type of character. Some actors make the transition between diverse roles very well, Peter Sellers being perhaps the ultimate example; others, such as Will Smith, always seem to be themselves no matter what role they play.
Any way you look at it, Dan is growing up; he knows he won't be a kid forever, and it would not be good for him to get stuck in kiddie roles. I'll grant that a decidedly adult psychodrama like 'Equus' is one heck of a first leap out of the nest, but by all accounts he's done a credible job of it. But don't expect Harry to be getting nekkid with Ginny and poking out Buckbeak's eyes any time soon. He knows one role from another, and so should we.

There will probably be some parents who are dopey enough to keep their kids from seeing the next HP film because of Radcliffe's work in Equus.
They need to get a grip. HE IS AN ACTOR! Equus is a well-known play that's been around for a long time. Radcliffe's appearance in the play is a good opportunity for him to branch out from Harry.
I am quite sure he will appear in no nude scenes in the Harry Potter movies.
Your last question? Dunno. Sometimes in the past people have used body stockings on stage. Not having seen this play, I could only speculate.

Yes, I believe it will. Taking on Equus just goes to show how Dan doesn't care what impact he will have on the people who "support" him and how he doesn't care that he and the lady are baring their bodies for all of the world to see.
Turns out Daniel Radcliffe is just another teen, who thinks he can do whatever he wants without consequences, and nothing different after all.

Well, I myself am a big HP fan too. i was kinda disappointed in him after I found out about his role in this play. I used to think of him as a very good actor (he still is of course), intelligent, and quite handsome young man. But now my respect for him has gone down to ZERO. I really do believe that the directors of this very revolting play are just using him to advertise and Dan is just trying to escape from eternally being Harry Potter. His role as a naked stable boy and actually having a "connection" with his horse is absolutely disgusting. I am absolutely ashamed of him. BUT, I will still love him in the HP movies.

Who cares? He's an actor. He can do whatever he wants. It's his job. If you're a doctor, who is anyone else to say that you can't do a certain procedure on a certain person just because some people don't agree with it? Just because he's nude, it doesn't make a difference.

Yes. But maybe only for a short time. Because we've used to see him as HP and then suddenly we see him as a naked boy on stage. Somehow, we'll get used to it.
