For example, why do we have favorite foods? Or colors? Or animals? Or anything 4 that matter? I hope u can see what I'm getting @. Help would be appreciated.

I don't think that we necessarily WANT to have favorites, I think that it just happens naturally. Things (people, colors, food, etc.) stimulate us (both emotionally and physically) and appeal to our senses in different ways. Some responses are naturally going to be stronger than others. That's how "favorites" are developed and formed.
