How about the very original idea of having your son truly learning about the famous person and then writing an original paper. Copying from the web serves no real purpose other than handing in someone elses work. Your son learns very little.

Since it is an autobiography, I am assuming he is to pretend he is the famous person as he writes it. I would have him do some research about the person and then use that information to write the paper IN HIS OWN WORDS. Also, you should give credit to the sources of research you use in your bibliography.

NO! That's plaigarism. He should use the books and internet resources as references. He needs to put the report in his own words. If it's an autobiography, it should be written from the point of view of the famous person. He should cite the books and websites that he gets his info from. Good luck to your son!

I'm sorry to correct you but he has to write a biography. An autobiography is when someone writes about their own life.

If he writes straight from the book it's called plagiarism and he could fail just for that alone.

The only person your son can write an autobiography about is himself. If he has to write a biography, he should research several sources about the person, then write in his own words what he finds interesting and important.

No, that's called plagiarism. Your son needs to read the information and put it in his own words. He also needs to give credit to the sources he uses (bibliography). And just so you know, your son is writing a biography. An autobiography is written by the person about himself/herself.

If he does, he'll be guilty of plaigarism, which is grounds for failure. In some schools, it's grounds for expulsion.

Have him read a book or two, then write his own version of that person's life. Quoting from books or websites is ok, as long as he makes it clear that it's a quote and states in a footnote or some other way who actually wrote those words.

If he does that he will get a ZERO on it, and is likely that he could be suspended if the plagiariasing is caught. Tell him to pharaprase it from the book/internet article ( write it in his own words).

no, tell him to find a web site with his information on it. Then let him print it out. Then let him look over the information and take notes of important things that was said in the pages. From then on he will get the clue of how to do it.
