Ok i installed some software onto my computer from a cd-rom only to find out it had trojans. I had some trouble removing them, but i finally did. What i wanted to know is, how come my anti-virus(the yahoo suit anti-virus) didn't detect the trojans. Don't antiviruses check cd-roms. Afterwards i tried checking the cd-rom with AVG and then with spybot but they both found nothing on the ce. Can't anti-viruses detect trojans on cd-roms?

No anti-virus app can detect every single trojans or viruses. AVG is not a very good scanner. Try using another anti-virus app to see if it can detect the trojans on the cd-rom. Download Avira AntiVir PE, update the database and let it scan the disc. You can get the free Avira here http://www.free-av.com/

It is possible the files on the cd were compressed (av scanners only check so many levels deep)

They will detect them if your AV prorgram is fully updated
