1) The ratio of girls to boys at a school dance was 3 to 2. If there were 30 boys at the dance, how many girls were there?

3) The present time is 9 A.M. What time will it be 3600 seconds from now?

4) A 2 pound pizza is cut into 8 slices of equal weight. Find te weight of three slices of the pizza in ounces.

1) g = # of girls
b = # of boys
The ratio of girls to boys at a school dance was 3 to 2: g/b = 3/2
There were 30 boys at the dance so b =30
g/b = g/30 = 3/2
g= 30*3/2=45
There were 45 girls

(4*5*6)*(1/4*1/5*1/6) = 4*5*6*1/4*1/5*1/6
= (4*1/4)*(5*1/5)*(6*1/6) (reordering)
= 1*1*1 = 1

3) a minute is 60 seconds and an hour is 60 minutes so an hour is 60*60 = 3600 seconds, so it will be 10 A.M.

4) each slice weights (2/8) of a pound, that's 16*(2/8) ounces, since one pound is 16 ounces. Each slice weights 4 ounces., so 3 slices weight 3*4 = 12 ounces.

2) multiplication is associative and distributive, so you can rearrange that expression into (4*1/4)*(5*1/5)*(6*1/6). You tell me what that reduces to.

3) if a minute is 60 seconds long, then 3600 seconds divided by 60 minutes per second gives you 60 minutes. What time is it 60 minutes after 9AM?

4) a pound is 16 ounces. 2 pounds is 32 ounces. Divide by 8 to get the weight of one slice. Then you know that 3 slices weigh...???

So 30 / 2 unit = 15 boys per unit
So 15 x 3 unit = 45 gals

Thus for 30 boys, there is 45 girls.

(4x5x6)(1/4x1/5x1/6) = 1

Because all of them is multiply, so the brackets is useless in this calculation, even if you multiply in the brackets, its 120 x 1/120 = 1

3600 sec = 3600/60 = 60 min

This it will be 9:30 am.

2/8 = 1/4 pound = 0.25 pounds or 25 ounces per slice.

Then 3 x 25 = 75 ounces

3 slices is equal to 75 ounces. (I study kg and grams, so I not very clear regarding pounds and ounces)
