I do not agree with what terrorist do, but I do understand why.....

Lets say you as a nationalist of your country saw it get invaded.... your army wiped out, and your goverment (that you loved, and agreed with) was removed and imprisoned.

The new goverment is placed, and it puts a group that you dont like in power, and they try and make things benefit them.

You see fellow country men go along and embrace this goverment.

Wouldn't you think that the enemy has taken your country, placed a goverment that would get along with them, and wouldn't you see your fellow ex-country men as traitors.

Wouldn't you despise them.

Wouldn't you try and fight back any way you could, any way possible.

You know that fighting the enemy head on would be certain death, cause if you caused enough damage they would just call in an air-strike and kill you.

So you strike from the corners of streets and meld into the shadows after causing enough damage, so that you can hit strike again and cause more damage

As a soilder in the U.S. Army, for over 9 years, including 2 tours in Iraq, I have seen terrorism up close, experienced its aftermath. and fought to end it. However, that is the problem, not only with your argument but with mine as well. If terrorism was a belief about politics and government people could be beaten into submission. However, when people have lost family and friends, seen atrocities, been abandoned seen children die, thier mental stabilities have been changed. Hate replaces love and the result is violence. Sadly, the only thing that ever changes is the number of terrorists. everyday when a someone family member dies, that dead someone had friends that are now angry and willing to kill over it. Further it is not a matter of death, at speaking of muslims terrorists, it is simply either a matter of money, or in the propagation of more terrorists, i.e. the martyrdom of suicide bombers, versus the bomb makers that build the weapons.

You make an excellent point. However, you must consider that the circumstances in Iraq and Afghanistan were markedly different. Both of those governments were ones that didn't represent the will of the people (non-democratic), and were brutal in the way that they held power. If these had been democratic nations, where the people used the power of the ballot box rather than the power of explosives and guns to push political agendas, there would be no reason or justification for such an invasion. Therefore, it is not fair to draw a comparison between what's going on in the middle east and your hypothetical situation about our government being overthrown.

This is a difficult question to answer without zealous patriots trying to beat you to death with flags, but, all in all, I agree with you. Their actions are unacceptable and evil, but you can definitely see from an objective viewpoint what pushes them to their actions. The problem is that human nature does not function according to the logic people use to defend their ideologies and beliefs; be they political or religious. This, seemingly unbeknownst to all of humanity, is the cause of all of their conflicts. They're still fighting over who pissed on what tree, but they've summoned up Gods and societies to back the whole act up.

And, to I EAT RAW MEAT: Don't believe everything you're told in history class. You'll notice how whitewashed the Indian genocide is in our public education system.
