I can think only of one, or may be two: Gandhi and Mother Teresa of Calcutta. However I doubt if the muslim world looks up to her. But for sure Gandhi is a hero all over the place.

This question has no answer becase there is nobody that everyone considers a hero. Just for those of you who disagree, did you know that Gandhi hated blacks and considered them of an inferior race (and even supported early movements toward apartied in South Africa)? How about Mother Theresa who allowed hundreds to die in her Calcutta hospital because God, not medical science was expected to cure them when medicines for their conditions was readily available in many cases?

I don't think there are. Everyone views everyone differently, and since I am from one place and have grown up with one culture, I can't really say. The best I can do is George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
