Community college is a great gig. You can get two years of college under your belt for about a quarter of the price. In a lot of ways it's like thirteenth grade (mostly due to other students) but I'm always surprised more people don't take advantage of it. Some of the best teachers I've had were at community college (hello Dr. Jukes!).

It also helps you get used to the college workload before you try to fit it in with the usual college folderol.

If this is what you want to do, go for it. It worked out very well for me.

Community Colleges are the greatest innovation in public education since the concept of a publicly operated institution. It is sad that we still have geeks who say ".....with cigarettes"

Once known as JC's (that term continues mostly with sports writers, coaches and jocks) they dropped that name mostly in the 60's. They began in Illinois near Chicago about a hundred years ago.Now they are in every state delivering higher education economically and usually easy to get to.

The best argument I know of re the CC's has to do with info coming from four institutions which report back to the CC's how the transfers do when they are juniors.

CC transfers do BETTER as juniors than those who entered the four years school as freshmen and have become juniors. This fact has been true for years. It is even better at less pretigious universities. UCLA regularly reports this back to the CC's

It's normal to get used to the college load by spending a semester to two years at a community college. I plan on graduating a semester early then taking a semester of classes at the community college.

I went to a community college for my paramedic, I think it depends on what you want to go to school for. Or if you don't know and you just want to get a feel for it I think either way it is a good opportunity

If money is an issue then it is a good way to go. Otherwise it is just high school with cigarettes.
