Who was Better?

Nirvana or Pearl Jam.

I don't think one can say either Nirvana or Pearl Jam is the better of the two and not take away the legitimacy, talent, impact and importance of both of the bands.
Each band had their messages, their writing, and their performances that made them special.
Both bands had an impact on their generation and both were fighting for the same things and lamenting the same issues.
Had Kurt lived, I believe today, regardless of whether Nirvana had stayed intact or if Kurt had gone on to other things, he would have continued to influence music.
Influencing music is the most important thing an artist can achieve. He did change music, he opened up the tightly wound and wrapped box of a generation that had so much within them that had no release. Pearl Jam in their own way achieved the same thing but in a different way. Pearl Jam achieved longevity.
That as well, is a fantastic achievment in the field of music. Especially with the fickle and attention deficit nation we live in.
Both bands together sparked a conflagration that to this day is still talked about, explored, listened to and admired.
How can we say justly, one is better than the other, when ultimately...regardless of their individuality they were extensions of each other. They were extensions of the same voice.
For me..it is quite difficult to deduct anything from either of them to conclude one better.

This is a very difficult question to answer. Yes Pearl Jam had more hits but I'm pretty confident Nirvana would've had more had Kurt not died.

I can not choose, they are both great bands and there is just no say here.
