yah ithink it is more than starting your car. coz our phones give off alot of energy wen it starts up, it even causes sparks thats why it not to be opened when someone is oin/at the gasoline station.

To some degree, your cell phone runs it's startup routine and seeks the cell tower signal which uses slightly more power than idle. Leaving it on is likely better than constantly turning off and on.

all i know about cell phones is that in colder air u waste more battery
