1) After college you will have to take three years of full time law school courses, or 3-5 years of part-time law school courses, in order to get your Juris Doctor degree.

The bar exam is then offered (in most states) the last Tues/Weds/ and/or Thurs. in February and July. (Beware---registration for the bar costs an arm and a leg and must be done VERY early) Most states don't give out February bar exam results until April or May, and July results typically come out in October or November. (Yes, it's agony waiting those few months!)

Don't even get me started on bar review courses. Just plan on spending a few thousand dollars on that, too.

2) Say you finish college when you are 22. You would then start law school, and assuming you finish in three years, you'd take the bar and hopefully pass on the first try and be a lawyer by the time you are 25/26 years old.

I went to law school with a lot of people in that 22-25 age range, and also with a bunch of people who decided on law as a second career, and were going back to school after having been in the workforce for a few years. I think the oldest person in my law school was 70. She was awesome!

after 4 year college, you need to go to law school. This usually takes 3 years. You can sign up with some schools that have a 4 + 2 program so you are done with all schooling in 6 years. Most attorneys start our at age 25, 26, or 27.

Have her itemize and of course she'll lie. Most Lawyers ask for 2 grand up front but don't move on your case until it's nearing the time for trial or closure and simply spend the money on what ever and bill you as if you were their number one priority.

Law school takes three years, and you can sit for the bar within a few months of graduating, if you're ready.

So, if you're 21 when you start law school you'll be 24 when you graduate and, hopefully, pass the bar.
