I am asking because i know how screens that you write on can get....after a while, they get all scratched and when you try to watch a movie or something, you can't get passed the roughness of where the stylus went over again and again......does this happen w/ the tablet pc? If you don't really get what i mean, speak up and i'll try to clarify more!

Not to me but it depends on what you are going to be doing. If you are going to be drawing or taking notes that way then it might be useful. Otherwise no.
Tablet PCs are underpowered compared to their full laptop brothers and sisters. They typically have less memory, less HD space, lower power processors, lower everything really and one thing you will most likely not find on a Tablet PC, a dedicated graphics card.
I don't like Tablet PCs because of all their relative shortcomings but as with all things computers, it really depends on what you are going to use it for.
It's true the stylus will wear on the screen with due time, I've seen some pretty scratched up displays on Tablets because of that.

TabletPC HandHeldPC ... those are tools for the time being, dedicated to travel with and access some resources online. If you intend to have one for movies and play, I should say, you should think twice. Why wont you have a Laptop? I am network administrator I have a HandHeld pc, it's only for accessing my network servers and stuff like that, it's easy to carry on, and can connect simple and fast. But the price it's to high to have it for playing movies only! I wasn't the network to administer it, I never took it!
My opinion is, buy a laptop so you can use it on more situations and is less expensive !
