i remembered when i had a problem before with a corrupt drive, i inserted my oem cd and partician the drives but doing so, i have one partician which is using excess drive space and i feel the memory is still accessing this partician and i would like to delete it entirely.

If you bought your PC and the manufacturer dual-partitioned your hard drive then the restore CD will still make you have 2 partitions.

If you have a WindowsXP actual CD, during installation you can hit the letter "D" on the partitions in the list to DELETE them and become one big partition.

I dont think you can merge them together with the standard built-in-windows utility.

Also, try a program called partition magic. It can merge your partition and get rid of it in like 2 minutes :)

Your computer will not be any faster in either case whether the drive is there or part of a larger partition. The computer will access the drive but it would have no reason to read empty space. You would not notice any performance difference. Also be cautious while using your restore disk. You could wipe out your data.
