There's no guarantee. Did your grandmother/aunt have identical or fraternal twins? Only fraternal twins run in families.

Well, I'll say this. I have twins, there are no twins on my husband's side,no where on his side. The closest twins on my side date back to the late 1880's. My twins were born in 1980, you do the math...........should I have expected this was going to happen? No. Did the doctor know I was pregnant with twins when I delivered under induced labor? No. Surprise! You are a mom again, oh, and again! One of each boy/girl. Yeah, I hope you aren't planning sex anytime soon. Good luck.

Twins and triplets are on both sides of our family. My sister asked the doctor about the possibilities of her having one or the other when she was pregnant. He told her that we all have the same chance as someone off the street of having twins or triplets. So, most say that it is hereditary....but in his words. You have as much a chance as anyone else. :)

No, it doesn't necessarily mean you will have twins, It can skip generations. It is more likely that you could as twins run in your family, but it isn't a definate that you will.

ok.....They say its hereditary but thats just coincidence in the technical side it depends on how many sperm gets to fertilise that one egg. Who knows you could have Quin Tuplets (5) if the 5 sperm are strong enough to fertilise that one egg!
