ive been trying to get answers but im so confused .... how common is it to test hpt and get negatives and the get a light positive and get a negative again

not very common. i would go to the doctor and get a blood test done. then you will know for sure.

took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? See FAQ 9 above; there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. It depends on how early in your pregnancy you might be and what time of day you are testing.
In early pregnancy, the first morning urine has the highest concentration of the hormone detected by pregnancy tests. If you test in the morning and get a faint pos, it's possible to get a neg later in the day b/c the concentration of hormone is still very low even though you are pregnant.
I'd try again w/ your first morning urine.

I had a light positive come up too (my daughter is now 2). It probably means that you aren't producing enough of the hormone yet. Be patient and take another test in a couple of days. Good Luck!

GO TO THE DOCTOR GET A BLOOD TEST DONE!!!
Some antibiotics can make you have a false positive!

Very common! This happened to me last time. If you got even a faint line, you're pregnant, so long as it showed up before 10 mintues was up.

with home pregnancy tests it is very common to get mixed results!! if you want to know for sure please go to the dr...it's the only way to find out for sure!!!
