I'm just tired of bandwagon fans. Where is the loyalty to one team. Should you only beable to cheer for teams in your state, the place you where born, or the college you went to. Tell me reasons why your cheer for the teams you do. Also vent on bandwagoners.

No rules. There are too many rules out there for everything already. Just acknowledge that you aren't a bandwagoner (i'm not either), and let those that like to do that, do it.

I've cheered for Notre Dame in everything (Rudy) since I was a kid. Wizards/Bullets forever. Nationals = a new one because I never really had a baseball team. I always had the Orioles here but never felt anything great for them.

I just like to see people loving sports because I know what it can do for people. If we get on bandwagoners, who also love sports usually, we're taking a lot away from ourselves and the sports. If you are a true fan of a single team, good for you. Just be happy you aren't a bandwagoner! :)

Yes, there should be one rule. You may only cheer for a team that is from your hometown, homestate or home country unless there is a team that has your favorite color or favorite animal as a mascot or you fall into one of the following catagories of exceptions to the rule:

a: You are color blind and can't determine what the team's colors are;
b: You are related to an animal that is the mascot for a team that does not fall into one of the catagories above;
c: You are female and just want to look at the butts of the players;
d: You just can't make up your mind this year so you may pick a team at random. If they don't work out, you may choose another team.
e. You ask stupid questions in Yahoo! Answers like "Should there be rules to what team you can cheer for? After all, anyone who ends a sentence in a preposition can't be expected to make intelligent decisions.

I am from DC so i cheer for washington's teams. However, I am in a dilema, because i grew up rooting for the Baltimore Orioles because DC did not have a baseball team of there own. Now that the Washington Nationals are here i truly want to support them. I am making the switch, not because one is better than the other (they both suck) so I do not consider myself a fair-weather fan.

With that out of the way, I cannot stand bandwagoners. Again, in DC, their are a lot of "transplants" in the community so it is hard to say who is really a fan and not just saying so because a particular team is winning.

So I say "Unless it can be confirmed by a third party, or it is documented prior to a team's success, you MUST refrain from public declarations of your support"

Bottom line: be as vocal of a fan and support "your" teams weather they are winning or losing!!

I really like Michigan in football, I love defensive style football teams and they have a great defense. (despite Ohio State and USC lighting them up lol) I love their fight song and have the ring tone on my phone. I love their coach and they have a rich tradition.
Band wagoners are people who only choose the team or teams that are winning at the time to cheer for. I know a friend of mine that is like that and I think it is funny. Just goes to show that he doesn't really know much about sports.
I'm from Arkansas and I'm not big on Razorback football, I don't like the coaches there, and the AD makes poor decisions concerning the football. I do, however, like their basketball program. I think if Stan Heath can improve his recruiting like he has over the past couple of years, he can easily turn this basketball program back into a powerhouse. I also like Oklahoma State and basically because of Coach Sutton (father and son), both great coaches and both great people. Let the band wagoners be, don't need us "intelligent sports folks" making fools of ourselves by harping on them for what they do. They make fools of themselves easy enough! lol

yeah we have a lot of bandwagon fans here in the bay area. its so annoying to hear people suddenly accept the warriors only when they start winning. especially after the trade, after the fact that we got al harrington, a lot more people are all about supporting the warriors. i mean, im not saying its bad that they're getting more fans but i mean come on... its stupid to like a team just because they're having a good season and then turn around to hate them when they suck. i have been loyal to the warriors since i was a kid because i grew up watching their games on tv since most of my family were big fans (my dream finally came true when i got to go to an actual game this year!). i love them no matter what and will stick by them through the good and the bad. i also like the lakers and im not ashamed to say that because i was influenced by my cousin who was way into the showtime era. plus i believe kobe bryant is one of the best in the league. the mavs arent from my state, but im loyal to them too. i started liking the mavs as soon as dirk nowitzki came because i thought he was a good player and even then they were still a mediocre team. through the years they struggled for a long time but i believed in them. nobody thought they would make it as far as they did last season, but I KNEW. now they have a whole legion of supporters, most of which only started liking them after last season. so yeah.. bandwagon fans are upsetting but i dont let them get to me... i just focus on my teams.

i dont think there should be rules as to what team you can cheer for because we should all be able to cheer for a team we are loyal to.

sorry for ranting but you asked a really great question! ive thought about your point on bandwagon fans for a long time so thanks for allowing me to vent on this!

You should cheer on any team you want to. Wether its how good one team plays, your home team, or even if you just like them. Or if your like me - cheer for both teams. If someone on an opposite side is making good progress just clap your hands. You don't have to make anybody your favortie team but just to enjoy the game. :)

there are a lot of different leagues, but if it is a high school team you can do basket tosses as long as the flyer doesnt go upside down. you can also do libs and extensions with any flare... so pretty much everything. basically the rules are the flyers head cant drop below her waist.
