Plant cells:
1. have cell walls made of cellulose (outside the plasma membrane)
2. have a single large vacuole that takes up much of the cell's interior space
3. have chloroplasts and other plastids

Animal cells:
1. no cell walls or plastids
2. many smaller vacuoles instead of one large vacuole
3. have centrioles
4. may have flagella

Plant cells have a strong cell wall, large vacuoles and chloroplants, and animal cells have centriolesn and small vacuoles. Also, plant cells have a distinct shape where as animal cells are irregular.

during mitosis plant cells form a cell plate and animal cells a cleavage furrow.
