I'm assuming you mean personal survival techniques, as opposed to institutional techniques (such as better equipment, better trenches, etc). Another complicating factor is that the French were not noted for being innovative during the war - many of the better solutions were innovated by the Germans, Canadians, ANZACs, or British.

1.) As the war settled down into trenches, foot infections became a major problem - since water tends to collect in holes, and trenches are holes in the ground. Soldiers spent the bulk of their time with their feet in water and mud, so they ran greater risks of disease (trench foot) and frostbite. Older soldiers knew to take better care of their feet - using extra socks or better boots whenever possible. The final solution was to have officers check their soldier's feet regularly.

2.) A notable exception to the normal lack of French innovation is that the French were the first to provide standardized steel helmets to their troops in 1915. These helmets greatly reduced head injuries due to shrapnel.

3.) A major survival technique in WWI was the creative use of non-standard weapons - be they improvised grenades, periscope rifles (invented by ANZACs in Gallipoli), sawed off shotguns, entrenching tools, tec.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
