You can stay off property and still use the fast pass system free of charge. All of the most popular attractions offer fast pass, you just insert your park ticket in the machine and you'll get a pass that tells you to return between certain times. Don't bother wasting time trying to use the fast pass before the return time because cast members do check.
You can't get another fast pass until your time return window is up on the first pass or two hours have passed, . Keep in mind that fast passes are limited to so many a day so they do run out early on very busy days.

They have FastPasses for the rides. These are free with admission. You take your ticket, slide it through a machine at the particular ride, and a slip will print out telling you what time to return to the ride (it is an hour span-ex. "Return between !:15pm and 2:15pm) You can come back any time within that hour stated, get into a quicker moving line and avoid the wait. This allows you to spend your time shopping, eating, resting, or riding something with a shorter line, rather than spending a lot of time waiting in the queue.

If you are speaking of admission tickets, you can purchase those prior to your trip in a number of ways, such as the internet or the Disney Store if you have one nearby. This way you avoid the line to PURCHASE tickets.

You will still have to wait to go through the security (bag check) line, then the actual admission line. Please note that these lines move quite quickly, so be prepared. At the security line have all bags, including camera cases open for inspection. At the admission lines, have your tickets out. Each person must have their own ticket with them.

Nope - just fast passes, which are free and available to all park guests. You are allowed more than 1 fast pass a day. But you can only get so many fast passes in an hours time. Visit this link for more details on the fast pass system:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/fastPassPopup?id=FastPassPopUpPage
You could win a special fast pass card, which allows you to literally walk onto all of your favorite rides. But you'd have to be at the right place at the right time. Disney is currently celebrating their Year of a Million Dreams Celebration. Cast Members have been known to suprise a few guests with these special passes. But you can only win them - they cannot be purchased.
To avoid crowds, visit in an off-peak season: late Jan - mid March and late September - mid December. If you have to visit during a peak time, follow this guideline: check out http://www.disneyworld.com and click on parks, then calendar. See when the Extra Magic Hours will be for each day you are visiting. If you will be staying at a Disney Resort, plan your park visits around those days listed. If you aren't staying on Disney property, avoid visiting those particular parks which have Extra Magic Hours.
And if the stand by line says the wait is 45 minutes or less, just get in line. If the line wait time says over 45 minutes, grab a fast pass ticket from the kiosks and head back to the attraction at the designated time, which is printed on your fast pass ticket.

Yes they have fast pass for getting in line and by passing the regular line. You still have to stand in line but not as long. You are only allowed so many fast passes at a time. They are free with paid admition. I leave for WDW in 7 months and 10 days.

with the purchase of your park ticket you are allowed one express pass, or as disney calls it, "fast pass." This allows you to use it once per day on one attraction to skip the lines. You insert your theme park ticket into the fastpass machines and it will spit out a ticket that tells you what time to come back to get on that ride and skip the lines. Unlike Universal Studios, Disney does not offer a separate fastpass you can purchase to skip every line.
