Because, at least for me, it's a wonderful feeling knowing you're not along in liking a song. It reinforces the feeling that it's not just you that likes the song, and helps alliviate fear that someone will critcize your musical tastes.

I don't know but that is a good question. Umm, if i had to guess i would say maybe because it becomes more personal then. You actually take more time to listen to the words that are being spoken and "feel" the music that is being played. OUr thoughts seem to be attached to our feelings.

When i hear this one song on the radio it still brings to memory this guy from waaaaay back in high school that dedicated it to me. Never had any interest in him, but never the less i remember him and it brings a smile to my face perhaps because of the nice thought associated with it.

And for some reason, yeah a song seems to sound really bad when you first hear it and then like if it becomes popular then it sounds better. PRobably because of the power of suggestion.

But who knows just an opinion.

the human desire to fit in with our peers or heroes will make anything more appealing... even to the point of purposefully giving an incorrect answer knowing it is incorrect but knowing our peers would or have given that answer
