Climatology, the study of climates, as I'm sure you know, is offered at many colleges. In high school, get into math and physics. These are greatly stressed. Try in high school to take calculus or at least pre-calc and trig to get ready. And read, pick up meteorology and climatology books at borders or online or whatever and read them over and over.

In Australia to become a Meteorologist you will need a good Bachelor of Science degree, preferably with Honours, majoring in Maths and Physics. If you are accepted, you will do a year's post grad study through the Bureau of Meteorology in conjunction with Monash University and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology resulting in a Diploma in Meteorology. Those who want to specialise in climatology are encouraged to do a Masters degree or Doctorate.
At a young age, the most important subjects are Maths and Physics.

Your best bet is to look at the website of a few colleges that you are interested in and see what they require, as it will differ between schools. You will be required to take basics such as history and english, basic math and sciences such as calculus and physics, and then advanced, majorr specific classes.
Also, at my college (Texas A and M University), climatology is a graduate studies program only. No undergraduate degree availible. This is probably the case in many schools.
