At your offices are you already networked?

There are a lot of options depending on the amount of data you need and security you want.
If you already have a server network set up you can use a dial up connection to dial in to your server. this would be slow but it would give you access.
Also if you are networked( with a server) you can set your server
to allow "VPN" virtual private network . they take a little configuring but you basically connect over the internet to your computer through a sort of "private tunnel"

If you do not have a network set up at your offices and just have an internet connection hooked up then you are probably doing the best option now.

If you want to set up a network and connect all your offices over what is called a WAN ( wide area network ) then you have a few decisions.
Based on the number of computers in your office if it is < 10 you can set up a peer to peer network fairly cheap with little overhead to maintain it. and connect it to a router so you can access outside networks
If the number of computers exceeds 10 you need to set up a server network. If these options are good your local network consulting company should be able to walk you through installation and setup of a network or VPN no what your situation may be. Hope this helped.

Take a look a Hamachi. Its a zero configuration VPN program. It is useful if you want to access your files from across the internet.
