Well a two year old and a six year old aren't much help at housework. I would say that at eleven and sixteen - the ability to help with family chores is reasonable. It may seem like 95 percent of the work is being done by the two (you are missing someone people here - you have ages for four - but said there are six), but running a household is a great deal of work. As I have no children - I do 100 percent and get to pay the bills to boot - I don't care for any of it!

The six year old can pick up his or her toys. The 11 year old can make their bed and clean his or her room and set the table, help carry in groceries and bring down his or dirty clothes to the laundry room. The 16 year old can clean his or her room, do own laundry, clear dishes and load dishwasher, dust L.R. and F.R. and take out trash. I taught my son to cook and he knew how to take care of his little sister. He also did the yard work with his father. He was no nerd, he played varsity sports and was no pushover. He now is a father and husband and I never have to worry that he will not be able to take care of anything if he has to, he can do it all. Luckily he and his wife are partners in everything. The girls are also self sufficient. They can do almost anything. Chores and taking part in them help to teach them responsibility and the feeling of doing your part in the family.

My two year old and four year old have chores. They're not big chores. They do things like wash all the door handles one day and change the garbage liners in the bathrooms...with a little bit of help. It's really cute. They get a little bit of responsibility, and it helps me a little bit!

All of them should have chores to do (with the exception of the 2 year old)... The rest of them are old enough to do things around the house....I see no reason why they can't help.....It teaches them responsibility and how to work together...

it should be divided depending on how complex it is. Taking out the garbage is easy so younger ones can do it. washing dishes require them to be clean so older children should do it. vacuuming can be a middle aged chore. find out what your kids can do and divide it up that way. older children can do more so don't worry about what they think is fair.
