A runner has ran 2000m in 4 mins 12 secs. Find his average rate in miles per hour.

1 mile = 1600 m => # miles = 2000 / 1600 = 1.25 mi.
Time is 4*60 + 12 = 252 sec = 252/3600 hr.
Average speed is 1.25 / (252/3600) = 17.9 mph (to 1 d.p.)

2000 * 1mi/1600m divided by (4*60+12)
