As you're walking up to them, (or as they walk up to you), wave in a freindly manor, then just spread your arms out and let them hug you. (Don;t dive in for the hug)
Unless you grope them, they won't think you're being sexual.

I guess a friendly hug would be like a one arm across the shoulder kind of thing. Start with that, and if you get weird looks you'll know not to go for the full hug.
