Well, in Michigan you get filthy amount of money for being a school teacher. They only work 8 months and get a huge amount. Rest of the state is poor but teachers, because of the unions, make high, and that too for only 8 months of work! They also do not get fired in spite of being in-competent.

If you want to be a teacher, simply put you must get a 4-year degree from a college or university. You would major in education...elementary, secondary, etc.

There is a possibility that a school would hire you without an education degree, but usually those people are highly skilled in their respective areas and have a teaching certification of some sort (and they do have a degree as well).

You can study a 4 year degree in education studying either elementary or secondary.

However if you already have a degree in any other area its only a one year course in Education.

Speak to your closest University or Studys Authority for what is the best option for you.

Go to college for four years my son just did it. I don't know where you are from but he went to college with a Teaching Fellows scholarship. After college you must agree to teach for four years and the scholarship debt is forgiven you also get paid for teaching. I don't think you are crazy I admire you the pay stinks and it is a hard job.
