I wouldn't say that it's a matter of evolution. People adapt based on the environment they have historically lived in. Narrower faces does not mean a higher degree of evolution...

There are dozens of tribes in Alaska, and none of them call themselves Eskimos. That's a generalized term that people use when they can't tell the different tribes apart and don't want to learn the differences between them.

Generally, Alaskan Natives (the proper general term) have darker skin, and slightly flatter and rounder faces than the average Caucasian.
