usually brown haired people have dark eyes and light haired people have light eyes, how does the mixture of the hair and eyes happen?

Yes, this does happen. (It's viewed as fairly rare, but it does happen with some regularity.) I have a friend that has extremely dark brown hair (almost black) and very pale blue eyes that are even lighter then mine.

My hair when i was born was blond(almost white I was called cotton top). Then it turned to a dark brown with some red highlights.. Some in my family have blue eyes-some brown-a few green eyes.. Some very dark hair-a few red heads-some blond- lots of different blood lines that date a while back so it does show up in different ways. Features and even a blood type may tell of a persons ancestors origin. I use hair color now so my hair color changes from time to time-depending on my mood. some have straight hair (like me) some have curly hair.

I've got dark hair and light eyes, I don't know how common it is, though. As for how it happens..it depends on what gene you receive from your parents..lets say dark hair is a dominant gene, and light eyes is a recessive gene..if you get at least one dark hair gene from either of your parents, you will have dark hair. If you get two recessive genes for light coloured eyes from your parents, then your eyes will be light..but if you get just one dominant gene..then your eyes won't be that colour, but you could still pass on light eyes to your kids.
