Yes and no. DVD9 are the DVD's you find at your local BlockBusters. DVD9 contain more than 4.7 GB which means that you can't copy it to a single sided DVD blank (a.k.a DVD5). You'll need to burn it on to a dual layered DVD blank which can fit 8.5GB. However, not all DVD burners can burn dual layered DVD's. You have to check the specifications for your DVD burner and see if it supports dual layered DVD's. Most modern DVD burners should support dual layered - modern being less than a year.

FYI, the "9" in DVD9 signifies the size capacity of the disk approximately 9GB, which is why dual layered DVD's are commonly referred to as DVD9 since they can hold approximately 8.5GB. In contrast, a DVD5 - you guessed it - holds approximately 5GB, which is why single layered DVD are commonly referred to as DVD5 since they can hold approximately 4.7GB. Oftentimes, people will want to "shrink" a movie from a DVD9 to a DVD5. All movie studios produce DVD9 movies and distributes them to retailers like Blockbusters or Virgin Records or Bestbuy.
