It's delightfully watchable. it's not like the original, there are some similar themes and bits but it's got amazing special effects and there are some really intense moments that had me worked up for a while. totally fun and thrilling even if it's a little bit predictable. it was especially incredible on the big screen where you could really get carried away by the effects --

It was good in its own right. They director never said it was a direct remake. I think it was supposed to be compared ot the newer version of Planet of the Apes--the same title and springboard, but not a remake necessarily.
I will say that I liked the original better. Better actors overall and nostalgia. :)

I refused to see it. I like the original "Poseidon Adventure" way too much. I didn't want to be let down.
