All other answers are good but the following website deals also with string theory and the 2 way relashonship between 1 universe and a multiverse it also explains the contruction of such a complex multiverse.

I hope that this answers your question

A multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of multiple possible universes (including our universe) that together comprise all of physical reality. The different universes within a multiverse are called parallel universes. The structure of the multiverse, the nature of each universe within it and the relationship between the various constituent universes, depend on the specific multiverse hypothesis considered

A multiverse is a multiple universe existing in parallel. According to Albert Einstein's theory of special relativity, multiple universes not only could, but MUST exist in parallel: Where a single peson is confronted with a choice which must be made; on the one hand he chooses coffee without cream and, on the other he chooses coffee with cream. Presented with this, the universe [as we know it] must split to form 2 universes [and so on and so forth]; a multiverse. (Quote: Albert Einstein & Nathan Rosen on General & Special Relativity, 1936).

Nathan Rosen went further and, with the aid of Einstein, proposed the theory that it would be possible to cross the barrier between universes. Their joint theoretical crossing was named the Einstein-Rosen Bridge (today known as a Wormhole (see sources)).

Asfor believing in their existence? Absolutely; Einstein's logic is impeccable. Also.... ever get that feeling of deja vu? That you've done something, been somewhere, said something before? But you know you havn't.......

Yes I think that they are there - and there are now several examples of inference allowing observable phenomena to be explained - gravity, M Theory and the big bang, the duality paradox of information preservation and destruction at a black hole event horizon - those are a few I know of.

If I understand M theory correctly (highly doubtful) we exists on a 4D brane embedded in an 11D bulk. There are loads of branes all banging off one another potentially resulting in big bang events and new universes - there could be 10 to the power 100 different types of these, varying in the value of the physical constants that exists in each - this is called the Landscape.

Have a wander around on the internet - there's loads about it as you might expect - understanding it is a different matter.

A multiverse is essentially what a universe is to a galaxy, with each universe pulling on and interacting with each other much like how our galaxies interact.

Personally, I don't believe a multiverse exists. One's quite enough for me.

A Universe is what we are believed to be in. A multiverse is the theroy of multiple universes bunched. Uni means one and verse means this vacuum. Multi means more than one and verse means the cosmos. This is what a multiverse is.

One or two strange people have put forward the theory that many aternative universes exist side by side withours. and depending on want you do, in other of the universes you might have chosen a different course. S in each of these universes you either are going along a different time line, or do not exist at all in some of them. HTH LOL
