I agree that it is 50. Here is how you can get that. Move the 5 back underneath the square root sign. To do this, what square root = 5? 25. So put the 25 under the square root. But there is already a 2 there, so multiply it by the 2. Then you now have the square root of 50.

i like to think multiplying square roots like you're multiplying fractions :) 1. I like to put any outside numbers inside the square root for example (2)sqrt:2 I would use sqrt:8* *in order to put a number into the square root multiply it by itself and then by any numbers already in the square root 2. as there are no numbers outside the square root we can just skip that so next multiply the square roots together. think of it as adding two fraction with the same denominator, the denominator stays the same but the numerator changes, so it is still a square root just multiply the numbers so sqrt:2(sqrt:10) = sqrt: 2(10) = sqrt:20 3. simplify the product by taking out the largest square number (4,9,16,25,36,etc.) so in this case the only square number is 4 which multiplied by 5 is 20 sqrt:20 = sqrt:4(5) = *in order to simplify you need to put the square number outside of the square root, so you find the square root of (in this case) 4 which is 2 2(sqrt:5) And that is your answer :) I know some things either weren't necessary or may have seemed pointless to point out but I wanted to make sure you understood it all for future situations :) hope it helped

no, if i get it right your equation should look like this 5(2)^0.5 = (x)^0.5. If so, then x = 50, because the square root of 2=1.41 and 5 times 1.41 is around 7.07, and if you take the square root of 50 you get 7.07 too.
