As you might also have heard, Bush intends to pay for this by slashing vital programs for the middle class and poor: Medicare and Medicaid in particular. It is a joke, there is no doubt about this. American politicians seem to be more and more only about power and their own pockets and big business and very little about the real people. So he will slash vital progams for those who cannot help themselves(the disabled and the children, along with the elderly), taking away from their small budget. You know, I went to Kroger the other day, looking for Kellogg's Special K cereal and did not want to believe the price. Everybody is getting rich on the poor man's back, and I think it will have to come to it that people riot in order to get heard.....

This is his last, best chance to stuff the military industrial complex full of cash. And he's trying to justify it by attacking the people America most loves to hate; the poor.

Bush hopes that is the group that the majority of Americans will be least likely to care about, and most likely to sacrifice for the sake of the Iraq war.

This has only ever been about money, power and control.

Don't let him do it folks.

It's a last (God let it be the last) Bush effort to eliminate the middle class and reduce the U.S. to a two class, third world nation for the very rich and very poor. Just like the good old days...the dark ages.

I gotta tell ya' after reading that article, it appears that we are being screwed from both sides, it seems to me it's going to be business as usual, nothing getting done to address the really serious problems in the country.

Yes,it's a much better idea not to supply our troops with what they need to help keep them safer & to make this war a success. Lets just cut & run so we can start worrying about car bombs, IED's & continuous attacks here in the US. Oh yeah that would be a much better plan...... And what vital socail programs, welfare, this is my hard earned tax money as well as yours - I vote to give it to the troops, they are out there protecting your rights. Would you rather hand it over to a crack addict that contnues tohave crack addicted babies - which we pay for thier housing, food & medical care?

It's a joke filled with proposals that even the Republic controlled congress wouldn't pass when they were proposed a few years ago.

It's the desperation of a dangerous and wounded lame-duck ugly politician with a messianic complex and a dry-drunk ego maniacal obsession for going down in history as the man who brought the final solution to the world: nuke war and annihilation singing "jesus loves me" on the eve of destruction.

He wants to increase spending, cut taxes and create a surplus. Sounds like he needs David Blain.

Why do you people have such a need to give away my hard earned money to people who refuse to go to school and learn and get a decent job? Have you even met the people you so desperately want my tax money to carry for the rest of their lives, and their children's lives, and their grandchildren's lives, and their great-grandchildren's lives? I have and it's a way of life. "Dirty politicians" are the Jessie Jacksons and Hillary Clintons of this world who get rich and famous off the backs of the poor and middle class!
