No. Not at all.
Why should it be? That's what some of them are meant to do: attract the viewers and make them fall in love with their characters, and you know what? Nobody ever specified what kind of love, so it shouldn't matter.
Besides, I love anime characters as well; they're strong-willed, sometimes cute/hot, and have good and bad points in their personalities, etc. etc.
I mean, even I had a crush on Ash at one point, and just cuz people have crushes doesn't mean they're actually making out with tvs'n such--I'm sure people know they're not real, we don't really have that much of a chance.
Hmm, I'm kinda pissed off, really, about other people's posts about it being weird. I wish they could have put it at least a little bit less blunt. I understand they may think it's foolish, but hey--isn't it fun to dream and imagine? I know all my friends--guys and girls alike-- all have at least one anime character they have crushes on. I'm sorry if people think I'm a freak/idiot, but that okay---I'm proud of being who I am--it's fun to daydream and it inspires me to make my comic books.
So, my answer is "NO" is ISN'T weird at all.

It is weird for anyone over the age of 9 or so to develop a crush on cartoon characters. You are probably spending too much time watching cartoons.

No, a lot of people have crushes on cartoon and fictional characters. I guess it's what we can't have that we always want more than reality. I have a seriously obsessive crush on Superman lol.
