I'm an American and going to Australia in August on a work visa for a year through my University.

The thing is I don't have a job lined up and am looking for something right now. I don't know what to do. I mean how should I start approaching companies and things I should say in my cover letter.

Can you advice something? How can I have a job lined up in Real Estate before my arrival?

Thanks !

Doesn't your University have a career center or something? What office is this program through?

If your University is sponsoring this trip, they should have resources available for you or ideas on how to find a position. In reference to the actual question (how you can start looking for jobs before graduation), you look just as you would if you weren't working. Lots of newspapers have online editions, and you can see if the city you'll be in and the towns around it have the classifieds online.

Someone suggested Monster, but I don't think that Monster has an Aus site, so it seems to me that wouldn't be the best place to look (since Aus hiring managers won't use that resource if it's not going to reach the people they want).

Do research on real estate companies in the area you will be living in. Companies often put employment information on their website themselves. If there isn't anything listed, send a resume to them with a cover letter, and if they do have any openings or anticipate any, they may keep you in mind.

Out of all of this, though, you *must* go to your University's career center and/or the office that is sponsoring this program. They must have some sort of references, resources or ideas to help you find work once you get there.

I'd do some research on various real estate companies over in Australia and see if there is a possibility of getting sponsored.

Also, do some research on culturgrams (your college will probably have access) to ensure you are writing the letters in an appopriate way.
