I was recently contacted about a job in an Asian country. The company is an American company, but you have to work in the Asian country. The work calls for a 55 hour work week, but there is to be no time and a half or comp. time for the 15 hours that have to be worked. The company rep. said that the FLSA does not apply OCONUS (overseas). Is that true?

It does not matter if the company is a US based company or not. If you take a job in a foriegn country you are subject to thier work laws and paractices and wages.

On the pther hand if you are employed by the same company, but based in the states, and sent overseas for a period of time to work, then you fall under US Work Laws...

I've heard from others that that is true. Even some jobs in the U.S. are exempt from overtime.
