I am a carer for a wheelchair user and am looking to book a holiday for us. Does anyone know of a hotel in Europe that has disabled access and if it had a hoist that would make life easier. Any details, hints, tips websites etc would be really appreciated, thanks.

Hi :))

Most large modern Hilton , Marriott type ' hotels will have disabled friendly rooms available (you should phone ahead on booking to confirm) but few will have hoists.

But there are hotels with facilities available..This site is the best place to start ..it lists all disabled friendly hotels and facilities.. And also agencies specializing in holidays for disabled travelers

In Europe there are quite alot of places on the Costa Brava and the Algarve with specially adapted rooms. I would also suggest staying in a villa rather than an hotel. There are some that are specially adapted with hoists etc.. And there are more comfy than hotels which can feel restricting. For example in the villa there are often movable hoists are or poolside..so that you can excess the pool. Whilst in the hotel hoists with be limited to the bedroom and bathroom.. And also you can prepare your food if you have special dietary requirements...
I stayed in a villa in the Algarve which was really nice but unfortunately can't remember the name:( but will write it if I remember it..)

You can also try the winged trust (now called vitalise) They specialize in holidays for disabled people and their called and are subsidized
