Thinking about finally getting round to buying a 360, I'm normally an early adopter of new consoles but having (I felt) my fingers seriously burnt by the PS2, I'm wondering how people have got on with their 360s - do you feel let down by the games, is it value for money, how have you found backwards compatibility?

I've had xbox live before and would probably get another subscription too.

Hi, I just got a 360 for christmas and love it. Graphics don't seem much better until you get a hd tv, then you realy notice the difference. Xbox live is pretty rubbish on the old games which will play fine on the 360. However, xbox live for the 360 is brilliant and you can download updates for all 360 and xbox games, ie additinal map packs for halo 2.

Also I found that xbox games played through the 360 onto a hd tv are a lot better. Go buy one but make sure you buy the premium one.with hard drive and wireless controller.

If you want a site that is better, in my opion for the old xbox then try xlink kai on www.teamxlink.co.uk

Its totally free but most of the main players play halo 2 or similar shooters.

I am amazed by some of the games for the 360, graphics and sound are awesome. But to be honest such as with Gears of War it was extremely shorter than I had hoped for because of the increased effects. As for backward compatible make sure to check the list on the website because the are sneaky and some games wont work even though you might think they would.

Also you cannot use xbox original games without a harddrive 360 just so you know and you have to download updates to use them.

I'm thinking that way too - the PS3 is too expensive and ... still not here. The blue ray drive doesn't seem to matter in gameplay from what i heard and it might end up being obsolete. The 360 can just plug in the drive that wins in the end anyway.

Apparently Games developers find the 360 easier to program as well so I am almost sure ... but I'll still wait 'till March to see the PS3 before I choose.

No regrets here. I love my 360 and I play it every day. Never overheats, never freezes. I don't use the backward compatibility except for Halo2 occasionally, but if you have an HDTV it does boost the resolution well.
The REAL bonus is all the free downloads on Xbox Live. I just tried NBA Street: Homecourt the other day and ended up playing that demo for hours. Gotta love it.

I love my 360 and I'm always on XBox Live. My current game of choice is Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Las Vegas. Another fav is Gears of War.

Of the games I have, the only disappointment is WSOP.. It's not how it looks or any of that -- it even has the ability to put your face on your player -- but I just don't like the gameplay.

It even works with a lot of my old XBox games, too. Like Halo 2.

Nope no regrets. I'm not a gamer but my sons (15 & 22) as well as my husband all have a system, three total and they love them. Between them they play several types of games and have always been happy. I would say to get the premium system and the HD-DVD player for it is well worth it. FYI - If you ever have any problems with it call the microsoft customer service, they are awesome and if it's something they need to fix they will pay for shipping both ways and it takes less than a week usually to get your system back and working great.
