An emo is not a person wo always cuts themslefs and is depressed. Im an emo and iIbecame 1 because where I live every1 wears thesame clothes, listen to the same music and no1 was really differnt. It just got boring after a while. Like me most Emo kids are Emo because they want 2 be differnt from every1else/their own person. Not all Emos wear alblack ethier most of my frindes that are emo wear polo shirts and baggy blue jeans.
Most of us do it because were tired of every1 being th same

The word "emo" is short for "emotional." In pop culture, and emo person (almost always a youth between the ages of 13-19) is stereotypically one who is consumed by sadness. A trademark of an "emo" person is the act of self-mutilation, wearing long bangs across your eyes (for boys), and listening to bands such as Hawthorne Heights and Dashboard Confessional. "Emo" kids wear a lot of band shirts and jeans, too. In pop culture, they shouldn't be confused with Scene or Gothic.
Now, there are some people out there who think differently about "emo". For example, I think the song "The Night Will Go As Follows" by the Spill Canvas is a very emo song... because it is very emotional. The singer sings with emotion, not necessarily to sound "good." My boyfriend listens to "emo" music, but he isn't "emo". We have a different way of interpreting the term "emo" than most people do.

Its a new fad that teens are doing. They dye there hair black and wear certain clothes and listen to emo rock music. Its short for emotional. Its usually about how much life sucks etc... Their style is kinda cool though
